Logotypes

Logotype: a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprise, organizations, and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition.

5 Principles of Effective Logo Design:
1.  Simple
  • makes a logo design easily recoginizable
2.  Memorable
  • keeping it simple yet appropriate
3.  Timeless
  • will it still be effective in 20 years?
4.  Versatile
  •  needs to look good on all media and applications (vector style)
5.  Appropriate
  • how you position the logo, it should be appropriate for the intended audience

Four Color Process vs Spot Color
  • Four Color Process- Technique for printing with full color.  The four colors reproduce all colors.  Also known as the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
  • Spot Color- Method of specifying and printing colors in which each color is printed with its own ink.
  • Pantone Matching System- using specific shades of colors with using numbers

CHOOSE YOUR COLORS WISELY.....  Color plays an important role in color designs.
  • It can illicit different feelings and emotions for the audience.
  • Interpretation of color may vary depending on age, gender, and cultural demographics.  So color should be carefully considered based on your target audience.
  • Keep your color palette to 2 or 3. Too many colors will increase your cost of production.

Combination Mark:
Logo that utalizes both text and design
